Rosalie Court

Rosalie Court is a community affordable housing development initiated by the St Vincent de Paul Society, in partnership with the Tasmanian Government and Centacare Evolve Housing. Rosalie Court will include 28 units, built in a friendly neighbourhood, in picturesque Smithton.

Subject to final approvals by Council and workflow considerations, construction of Rosalie Court will commence in June 2022. The development is scheduled for completion by June 2023. Residents are expected to occupy their new homes within a few weeks of the final inspections. Each modern home includes:

  • Two-bedrooms
  • One bathroom
  • Generous living areas
  • Well-appointed Kitchens
  • Private open spaces

Rosalie Court is:

  • A few minutes’ walk into town
  • A two-minute drive to the Medical Centre
  • Close to welcoming, friendly community facilities.

Rosalie Court consists of two different floor plans, which will be built across the development. There will also be a mixture of several different facades, which will vary across the site and add to the aesthetics of the development. Rosalie Court is planned to be a 7-Star development, which will exceed the Tasmanian Government’s 6-Star requirement.

From an economic and social perspective, the 28-unit Rosalie Court development will add to the stock of affordable housing on the Northwest Coast.

In line with the Tasmanian Government’s initiative to encourage construction companies to offer more apprenticeships, the developers of Rosalie Court will, where possible, give preference to tradespeople and contractors with existing trainees and apprentices; or where new roles will be created for this project. This should provide on-going and stable work for tradespeople and suppliers in the region; and has the potential to create new employment opportunities in and around Smithton.
